Wilmington Health is expected to acquire a 49% interest in Coastal Cancer Care & Imaging (CCCI), a freestanding cancer center operator that is currently owned 100% by UNC Health. CCCI provides oncology, hematology, infusion services, and PET imaging capabilities. The organization is expected to become jointly owned by Wilmington Health and UNC Health, with UNC Health holding a 51% stake and Wilmington Health holding 49%. North Carolina regulators granted an exemption allowing construction of a medical office building to house a PET scanner and cancer center in Wilmington, with the full project pending state approval and targeted to open as early as 2028.
