Akron Children's Hospital will purchase the independent Stark Women's Center, an obstetrics and gynecology physician practice, under a memorandum of understanding announced July 21, with completion expected by February 2027. The Stark Women's Center, established in 1953, operates as an independent practice with six physicians and two nurse practitioners providing gynecological, obstetrical and urogynecologic surgical services, handling 35,000 outpatient visits annually. Deliveries and surgeries will continue at Aultman Hospital. Akron Children's, a nonprofit health system, cited the acquisition as complementary to its high-risk maternal fetal medicine and pediatric services.
